Finding My Strength: A Journey of Self-Discovery Through Taekwondo
“I never thought of myself as a martial artist. When my girlfriend wanted to join a taekwondo club, I was hesitant to join her. But after some convincing, I decided to give it a try. On our first training session, I quickly realized that taekwondo was not an easy task. My girlfriend quit after the first session, but I decided to stick with it.
I saw it as an opportunity to learn something new and push myself beyond my limits. Ever since I started taekwondo, I have given it my full dedication and hard work. It has taught me many valuable life lessons, including discipline, self-control, and indomitable spirit. These are the tenets that taekwondo is built upon, and they have had a significant impact on my life.
Through taekwondo, I have learned to be more disciplined in my daily life. I have become more focused and organized, which has helped me to achieve my goals more efficiently. I have also learned the importance of self-control, which has helped me to manage my emotions better. But perhaps the most significant impact of taekwondo on my life has been on my mental health. It has given me a newfound confidence and sense of purpose.
When I'm on the mat, I feel like I'm capable of anything. I don't know what other people's thoughts are about me joining taekwondo, but my father, who is also a martial artist, thinks it's good for me and my life. He has seen the positive changes that taekwondo has brought to my life, and he supports me in my journey.
In 2024, I participated in the Intramurals at our university, and I was proud to represent our taekwondo club. Although I didn't win, I learned valuable lessons about perseverance and resilience. I am still working on improving myself in taekwondo and in other aspects of my life. But I am grateful for the lessons I've learned and the friends I've made. Taekwondo has helped me to find myself and improve my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way.”
